Chez Gabin

We found this restaurant on Google thanks to its strong ratings and decided to stop by. It was open until 8pm, and we arrived around 6pm to a quiet dining room, with just a few people sitting at the bar. In our very limited French, we asked about food and were told no—only to realize shortly after that meals are served during lunch hours only. So we ordered beers instead, and that’s when the experience really turned around. The bartender, Sebastian, along with the bar patrons, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We started chatting, and before we knew it, they offered to warm up some food for us. What followed was a simple but absolutely delicious meal—pork with vegetables, paired with a local red wine. We were genuinely touched by the kindness and hospitality we experienced here. What started as a small misunderstanding turned into one of the most memorable moments of our trip, thanks to the warmth of both the staff and the locals.
